Nowadays, there are millions of obese child. It is estimated that one of 3 children ages between 2 and 9 suffer from obesity. The bad new is that obesity can kill our child, dying young is a major health problem of an obese child. In United States alone, we have 112,000 deaths per year due to obesity. Statistics suggests that this is the first generation in a long time where have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. So, if your child is overweight, you should find solutions to help them protect their health and life. In this article, I will show you the main causes of obesity and how to help your child to manage it and maintain a healthy body weight. 

There are many causes of childhood obesity, some children may be born with a tendency to be overweight due to a medical problem. But, generally the main cause is the lifestyle and eating habits. Obese child has the chance to develop serious health diseases such as cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other. So, what can we do? Well, first thing to do is to re-educating ourselves and our families. You need to start by your own home firstly and find the reasons which lead your child to gain weight. For example, if you do not eat healthy foods and eat a lot of junk food. Consequently, your child will do the same thing and will prefer fast food than healthy food or food cooked at home. Also, if you don't have an active lifestyle, your children will not be active as well. So, you should start by yourself, try to change your lifestyle and your eating habits. After that, you will teach your children about the benefits of eating healthy foods and be active.

There are many things parents may do to help his obese child. I will share with you some of the easy tips you can do to help your child prevent obesity.

  • Start by eliminating all the processed food and try to give your family a home cooked meal as much as you can. Make eating food around a table a habit for your kids and turn off the TV or computer while eating dinner to enjoy a healthy meal of old fashioned.

  • Remember that we should eat 5 different kinds of vegetables and fruits daily. So, try to include vegetables and fruits in your meals. In fact, most kids don't like vegetables, but there are many means to fool them and use vegetables in your meals such as combining vegetables and fruits in juices. Blend up vegetables and hide them in the pasta sauce. If they hate carrot cooked, you can give them grated raw. Also you can involve your kids in preparing dinner to stimulate them eat food cooked at home. 

  • More than consuming healthy foods. You have to take your kids outdoors for practicing some physical activities. If possible try to walking to school and going to the playground or park. Also you can involve your kids in house cleaning.

  • Eliminate fast food. This is a hard thing to do, especially these days. Due to the big number of fast food restaurants we have in all places and the publicity in TV. So, this need a strong will to break the junk food habit but you can do it. Firstly don't let them into your home. Second don't eat food for snacks when you are Outside the home. Stay away from cookies, sweets of all kinds, ice cream and cakes, candy, cheese doodles, sodas, tasty flavored milk drinks and highly sweetened fruit juices.
Remember that a small changes may lead to great results. If your child is obese or overweight, his future is at stake. So, it is up to you to prevent them suffering from dangerous health diseases.
